Police CADET
PROGRAM
  (18-20.5 YEARS OLD)

If you are not old enough to apply to become a Police Officer (must be 20.5 years old), the Cadet Program would be a great fit for you! The St. Louis Police Cadet Program provides needed support and a clear pathway for young adults who are interested in a fulfilling career in law enforcement. The goal of the program is to provide interested individuals between the ages of 18 and 20.5 with paid, on the job training and exposure to various units within the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Cadets have the opportunity to earn course credit while also establishing a foundation to be successful and well-prepared upon entering the St. Louis Police Academy once turning 20.5. The Cadet Program, restarted in 2018, is funded by the St. Louis Police Foundation.

“The Cadet Porgram helped me become a part of the department and understand it before even becoming an officer. This program definitely made up my mind and made me want to be an officer for the city.” - Recruit Savannah Brewer
(previously a Cadet)
